RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Rankin County deputies arrested a woman after they said she fled from deputies who were responding to a domestic dispute call.

Deputies responded to the incident at a home on Glendale Place near the Reservoir area just after 12:45 p.m. on October 2, 2025.

While traveling to the location, deputies were informed that Latoya Fortune had fled from the home in a maroon Nissan Rogue SUV. Deputies said they tried to conduct a traffic stop, but Fortune continued fleeing southbound on Lakeland Drive toward Flowood.

Investigator Tyler Burnell, with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, said Fortune was initially stopped after several miles on Lakeland Drive near Dogwood Festival Boulevard. However, Burnell said Fortune fled again after deputies attempted to pull her from the vehicle.

According to Burnell, a Flowood police officer executed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention on Lakeland Drive near Howard Wilson Lane, which resulted in the Nissan overturning and coming to a rest on the right median. Fortune was removed from the vehicle and detained.

Burnell said Fortune was evaluated by medical personnel and transported to the Rankin County Detention Center. She has been charged with felony fleeing. Burnell said additional charges are likely.
