TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka Zoo is trying to raise thousands of dollars today.

The zoo wants to collect $25,000 in 24 hours. In the last two years they have well surpassed that goal. Just last year, the zoo raised $38,000, or 153% of their $25,000 goal.

These funds will help the zoo care of their animals, support conservation efforts and to keep the Topeka Zoo welcoming for all.

“I love being able to talk to everyone that has come into the zoo,” Strategic Partnership Director Cynthia McCarvel said. “We are sitting outside in the front area, and we are talking about the wonderful things we are doing here.”

The Topeka Zoo says donations of all sizes help. According to the zoo, it costs nearly 11-thousand dollars to feed all of its animals for one month.
