Students invited to explore opportunities at College and Career Pathway Fair

Written from e-mail message

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Area students and families are invited to the College and Career Pathway Fair on Monday, Oct. 27, at the Hoosier Hills Career Center in Bloomington.

The event, scheduled from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 3070 N. Prow Road, will allow students to explore educational and career opportunities, speak with instructors, observe classroom and lab activities, and connect with college, industry, and military representatives.

“As the Area #36 Career and Technical Education Center, Hoosier Hills integrates rigorous academics with hands-on technical training to prepare students for employment, postsecondary enrollment and enlistment,” said Christy Wrightsman, director of the Hoosier Hills Career Center. “We emphasize strong academic foundations that align with employer needs because today’s technical careers require critical thinking, an interest in continual learning, and strong communication skills.”

Hoosier Hills offers programs in agriculture, automotive collision repair, automotive technology, construction trades, culinary arts, drafting and design, education professions, emergency medical services, fire and rescue, health sciences, engineering, and welding. Students can earn industry-recognized certifications, dual credits, and college credentials from Ivy Tech Community College and Vincennes University.

The Hoosier Hills Career Center serves more than 600 students across six school districts, including Monroe County Community School Corporation (MCCSC), Bloomfield, Eastern Greene, Martinsville, Richland-Bean Blossom, and Spencer-Owen.

MCCSC educates about 10,000 students across 23 schools and offers STEAM and EARTH curricula, dual language immersion, International Baccalaureate programs, and multiple pathways to college and careers.
