Animal Care and Enforcement received a call in reference to two dogs that had possibly been exposed to a skunk showing neurological issues in the 4000 block of Dallas Cherryville Hwy Bessemer City.
Both family dogs were up to date on their rabies vaccinations and received a booster shot from their veterinarian. There was no human contact with the skunk.
Animal Care and Enforcement Specialists impounded the skunk and sent it to the NC Laboratory of Public Health in Raleigh.
The official laboratory results indicated that the skunk tested positive for rabies.
Enforcement Specialist completed a neighborhood canvass in the area of Dallas Cherryville Hwy to notify the community of the positive rabies results, and verify rabies vaccinations for family pets in the area.
