The incident occurred just before 11:30 a.m. on October 2, 2025.
Magee Police Chief Denis J. Borges said witnesses reported hearing shots, but they did not see a shooter. After a search, Borges said officers made contact with Todd C. Allen. He was charged with discharging a firearm within city limits.
According to Borges, Allen was under the influence at the time of the incident. Because he was on his own property, the police chief said Allen was not charged with public intoxication.
“I want to commend the school resource officer for his quick and decisive actions, as well as the staff of Magee Middle School and Magee High School for immediately following their safety protocols and going into lockdown,” said Borges. “Parents, please understand that during lockdowns you may not receive immediate notification. This is done to prevent unnecessary chaos and to allow first responders to secure the situation quickly and safely. Thankfully, this incident did not directly involve the school, but it occurred extremely close to it.”
