Lafayette receives $10,000 grant for beautification projects

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – Lafayette Consolidated Government’s Environmental Quality Division (EQ) and Keep Lafayette Beautiful have been awarded a $10,000 Beautification Grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor.

Mayor-President Monique Boulet shared how thrilled the EQ is for the grant and how this will give Lafayette many opportunities for the their public spaces and conservation efforts.

“This grant helps us invest in Lafayette’s public spaces, blending conservation, art, and community stewardship,” Boulet said. “We’re excited to create welcoming, sustainable landscapes that reflect our parish’s culture and natural heritage.”

The Keep Louisiana Beautiful Beautification Grant Program supports local efforts to reduce litter, enhance green spaces, and foster civic pride through community-led initiatives. Grant funds will cover plants, seeds, irrigation improvements, and installation materials for both projects, along with contracted labor for site preparation.

At Moncus Park, the grant will also support the installation of a permanent Azalea Trail sign to replace the current temporary marker. In addition, the funding will support two landscaping projects: the Cajun Prairie Entryway and the Moncus Park entrance. These project spaces are highly visible gateways that showcase Lafayette’s culture and natural heritage while connecting to existing public art and trail systems. Planting is scheduled to begin Nov. 1, 2025.
