CASS COUNTY, Ind. — Six different fire districts are working together to try and contain a massive field fire northeast of Logansport.

Cass County Emergency Management Agency said the fire is located near North County Road 450 East and East 150 North. A controlled burn of trash started the fire as dry conditions caused the fire to spread quickly, Cass County EMA said.

The massive fire is estimated to have impacted approximately 50 acres. Some nearby roadways were temporarily closed due to the smoke obscuring visibility.

The fire is now mostly under control, according to Cass County EMA.

No additional damage was reported.

Responding fire crews included Cass County Fire District 1, Logansport Professional Firefighters Local 470, New Waverly Fire Department, Harrison Township-Lucerne Volunteer Fire Department, Walton Community Fire Department and Twelve Mile Volunteer Fire Department.
