Clay County burglary suspect said house ‘looked cool’

CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Pikeville woman was arrested after allegedly trying to break into a home on Tuesday in Clay County.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a burglary in progress at a home on Kentucky Route 80, where they found 43-year-old Jessica Johnson behind the house while the back garage door was open.

Authorities said the caller told them that two other people had also been on the property but ran into the woods behind the home before police arrived.

Johnson told deputies the names of the others, but they were unable to find either of them.

According to an arrest citation, Johnson told authorities that the three of them stopped to check out the home because they believed it was abandoned. Later, she allegedly said they thought the home looked cool.

Johnson was charged with third-degree criminal trespassing and third-degree burglary.
