Charlotte, Salisbury companies shine in “Coolest Thing Made in NC” awards
CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — From custom glasswork to high-speed trains, some of North Carolina’s most innovative manufacturers are in the spotlight as the NC Chamber announced the winners of its annual “Coolest Thing Made in NC” competition.

Right here in Charlotte, Carrier earned third place in the Large Business Category for its high-tech chillers, which help keep everything from skyscrapers to sports arenas cool.

In Salisbury, a hometown favorite landed in the top five of the medium business category: Cheerwine, the beloved cherry soda that’s been bottled in the city since 1917, finished fourth.

The NC Chamber’s “Coolest Thing Made in NC” contest, now in its fifth year, celebrates innovation in manufacturing, from small-town artisans to large-scale industrial players.

This year’s winners were:

  • Large Business Winner: Siemens Mobility, Passenger Coaches for Amtrak
  • Medium Business Winner: World Cat Boats, Powered Catamaran Boats
  • Small Business Winner: Ordway Glass Company, Custom Stained Glass
