12th annual Smith Lake Park Bass Fest returns Saturday with $15K top prize
Early registration has closed, but anglers may still sign up during the pre-tournament meeting on Friday, Oct. 3, at 6 p.m. at the Cullman County Agricultural Trade Center. The fee is $200, with an additional $20 cash-only fee collected at the meeting. Attendance at this meeting is required, and at least one angler from each team must be present to receive a boat number ticket.
Competitors may fish solo or with a partner. Parent/child teams will compete in the main tournament but can also qualify for a $500 parent/child prize if they place highest in that category. A $500 Big Fish prize is also included in the entry fee.
New to this year’s event is the No Weight Draw, which gives every participant a chance to win — even if their day on the water doesn’t go as planned. “We added a new no weight draw this year, so if your fishing day didn’t go as planned, you are still in the running to win some money,” said Sara Morgan, marketing and event coordinator for Cullman County Parks and Recreation. The prize for this category is $500.
