1 dead after police chase on I-65 in Johnson County

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. — One person is dead and all lanes of I-65 northbound and the left two southbound lanes in Johnson County are closed due to police activity.

According to an INDOT Traffic Management Center alert at 9:38 p.m., a crash ensued near mile marker 92 near Franklin. One person was confirmed dead after a vehicle caught fire.

IMPD stated that a crash occurred while officers were chasing a vehicle, the vehicle crashed and the driver was pronounced dead on scene.

I-65 northbound remains closed due to the investigation.
