By RSSFeeds Administrator It happened inside an apartment near Janine Way and Blake Street.
Matthew Miller says he lives right across the street from where the shooting unfolded on Tuesday.
“I’ve been here for a little over a year,” he said. “Just been a few months ago, there was a shooting on the other side of the complex where a guy got hit with a stray bullet and ultimately died.”
Lemoore Police say an officer arrived at the apartment complex at around 1 p.m. for a call about an assault in Reno, Nevada.
Investigators say police fired shots at the man who reported the crime after he took out a knife and moved towards the responding officer.
The man who was shot received medical attention but died at the scene.
Carolyn Moreno moved to the area from Fresno a year ago.
“I love Lemoore. I mean, I’m a little weary now, and you don’t think anything like this ever happens in Lemoore. Lemoore is a nice, quiet little town,” she said.
Uneasiness now weighs on her daily routine with her dog, Charlie.
“This is my home. I walk through here every day, two or three times a day. So, to know that that happened is very scary,” she explained. “I’ll be more careful definitely walking my dog through here. And I’ll keep my eyes open for sure.”
The Kings County Sheriff’s Office has now taken over the investigation.
The Lemoore Police officer who fired his gun has been placed on paid administrative leave.
