Near record heat in Acadiana to start October

Near record heat and sunnier weather is in the forecast for Acadiana today. Temperatures are in the mid 60s this morning followed by highs approaching the mid 90s under partly cloudy skies. Fortunately, humidity levels are expected to decrease and become more comfortable later in the day. Average highs for October 1st in Lafayette is 86° and the record high is 96° on this date in 1938.

Spotty showers and storms are possible tomorrow as the humidity increase across the area. Scattered rain looks like the likeliest on Sunday.
