Just after midnight, Louisa police said they were called on Sept. 28 to an apartment in the 300 block of Fyffe Street for a reported assault.
Officers said they arrived to find a woman who had blood running from her ear down her chest, as well as a bruised right eye and a possibly bruised left eye.
She told officers that the assault happened after arguing with 36-year-old Douglas Brewer. During the argument, the woman said Brewer then punched her in the face while she was holding a baby and broke her phone when she tried to call the police. At one point, Brewer bit the woman’s right ear.
Before the woman could put the baby down, Brewer hit the infant, according to arrest records. The baby reportedly had two red marks on her face.
While interviewing the family, investigators learned that Brewer had also allegedly pulled a minor by her hair before shoving her to the ground, and “she could not get air/could not breathe as her air way was restricted.” When she was able to stand up, Brewer was said to have hit her in the chest, where she fell back onto a bed.
The woman told police that he had left intoxicated and headed toward the Boyd County area.
Brewer was found at the home later that day, where he was arrested and charged with:
He was booked into the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center, where court records show he was assigned a pair of cash bonds valued at $25,000 and $50,000.
