IFD: 2 cats dead, 8 people displaced after house fire on Indy’s west side

INDIANAPOLIS — Firefighters responded to a residential fire that killed two cats and displaced eight people on Indy’s west side on Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters with the Indianapolis Fire Department were dispatched around 1:51 p.m. to a residence located in the 4300 block of W. 30th Street in response to a reported fire. IFD confirmed two cats perished in the fire and one child was transported to Riley Hospital for treatment. They were last reported to be in “good” condition, according to IFD.

The fire crews made quick work of the flames, bringing them under control within five minutes of their arrival. IFD confirmed Red Cross will assist the family as they begin their search for temporary housing.

The exact cause of the fire remains an active investigation.
