WOODSIDE, Calif. (KRON) — October has arrived and if you’re looking for spooky fun, you might consider a trip down the Peninsula to the historic Filoli house in Woodside. For the second year running, the sprawling 16-acre estate and mansion will be transformed for “Filoli Nightfall.”

“Bigger, bolder, and more enchantingly eerie than ever before,” according to the Filoli website, “Nightfall” invites visitors to “step into the hauntingly beautiful House, immerse yourself in a pumpkin-filled meadow,” and wander the woods where Trolls and “unexpected wonders await.”

Built in 1915 for the wealthy Bourn gold-mining family, Filoli is best known as the Carrington mansion on the TV show “Dynasty.” During the 2023 APEC summit, Filoli hosted a meeting between then-President Joe Biden and General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party, Xi Jinping.

Beginning Oct. 3, the house and its surrounding grounds will play host to a spooky, immersive experience that will see Filoli’s grand interior transformed into eerie, candlelit halls and its grounds turned into spooky, moonlit paths where trolls, scarecrows, and giant slugs lurk.
