Evangel’s Peyton Houston and receiving core continue to blossom

SHREVEPORT, LA (KTAL/KMSS) — Evangel is coming off a trilling 51-49 win against Airline last Friday. Peyton “Pop” Houston and the wide receiver core had a big night for the Eagles. That group has been putting in work for quite some time.

“What I will tell you is, I’ve never in my life seen a quarterback and a group of receivers work as long and hard as these guys do. They, you know, sometimes I think they throw too much. I’m worried about them, but, they’re always out on that field just honing their skills and perfecting their craft,” head coach Denny Duron said.

Senior wide receiver Charley Abraham had a massive game bringing in nine catches for 221 yards.

“It grew a lot because I’ve known him since Little League, we’ve played together before. We did all that, but like ever since last year and this year we’ve grown a lot. We go out with each other, hang out and everything,” Abraham said.

Evangel will hit the field again on Thursday, October 2nd against Huntington.
