Child in critical condition after being struck by minivan in West Ridge

CHICAGO (WGN) — A 4-year-old girl is in critical condition after Chicago police say a minivan struck her as she crossed the street.

Officers cited a 72-year-old driver for failure to reduce speed and due care to avoid a pedestrian following the incident, which police say occurred just before 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 6200 block of N. Talman, in Chicago’s West Ridge neighborhood.
