
The main 5K kicks off at 8:30 a.m. sharp. Five minutes later, families take to the trails for a 1.7-mile walk. This “Cold Stun Run” sheds light on sea turtles stuck in chilly waters when migration plans go wrong.
Want to run? Entry fees stand at $35 per person until race day. Teams of four save five bucks each. USTF members get special rates: just bring your number when you sign up.
Quick tip: Register before Sept. 14 to lock in your race shirt. After that date, it’s luck of the draw during check-in.
Got time on Oct. 3? Swing by the Ronald Mount Building at Essex County Turtle Back Zoo between 5:30 and 7 p.m. to grab your race packet. Can’t make it? No sweat: pick it up at 7:30 a.m. race morning.
After crossing the finish line, catch your breath at Clipper Pavilion with post-race snacks. Flash your race badge at the zoo entrance for a sweet discount to meet some real-life turtles.
