At a press conference on Monday, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said that deputies were called to a home near a pond off FM 1008 in Dayton early Monday morning about a possible drowning.
The woman and her three children were pulled out of the water and were taken to local hospitals.
Deputies said that the woman and her 11-year-old daughter were taken to the hospital by Life Flight and are in critical condition. The two other children, a 15-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy, are in stable condition.
Deputies are still trying to find out what happened, but said that the father of the children told deputies that their mother was trying to drown the children. The father has been interviewed by the Texas Rangers.
This is a developing story.
