According to police, officers received a report of a “suspicious incident” that happened in the parking lot of 1303 East Wilson Street just before 6 p.m. Thursday.
A witness told police a male and female inside a white Jeep SUV drove up to a group of children standing near a fire lane, and repeatedly asked them if they wanted candy.
Police said a parent yelled at the couple to get away from the kids and the vehicle sped away in an unknown direction.
According to a police report, the occupants are described as a Black female with braids and black/white beads in her hair, and a Black male with dreads, wearing a red hoodie. Both appeared to be 20-30 years old, police said.
The SUV steering wheel was covered with a Hello Kitty cover and other Hello Kitty items were seen inside, as well as a Hello Kitty sticker on the gas tank cover.
