St. George bar speaks out after two employees were stabbed by a drunk patron

ST. GEORGE, Utah (ABC4) — After two employees at a St. George bar were stabbed by a drunk patron on Saturday, the bar is speaking out about the incident, providing an update on the status of the employees.

According to St. George Police, Mario Perez allegedly stabbed two employees after they forced him to leave for being too intoxicated. Reportedly, he “felt disrespected” and returned with a knife, stabbing one employee in the arm and the other in the clavicle area.

The stabbing happened at The One & Only, a neighborhood bar and dance hall. They released a statement on social media following the incident, highlighting their commitment to safety and providing an update on the employees who were injured, stating that they are on the way to make a full recovery.

“Thanks to our highly trained and dedicated team, we were able to respond quickly and effectively, prioritizing the safety of all our patrons. We are relieved to report that those team members who sustained injuries are on the path to a full recovery, and we are committed to supporting them every step of the way,” the statement reads.

The bar thanked the St. George Police Department and stated that they are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. They also thanked their patrons who came forward with information to help the investigation.

The employee who was stabbed in the arm had a more significant injury, as the knife sliced an artery. He required emergency surgery, but according to The One & Only, he is expected to recover. The other employee, despite being stabbed near the neck, was not injured as severely.
