Report: 30 arrested in overnight immigration operation in Chicago
CHICAGO — Border patrol officers conducted a military-style raid on an apartment building in Chicago’s South Shore neighborhood overnight.

Officers told our sister station NewsNation they arrested close to 30 individuals.

The raid took place near 75th Street and South Shore Drive around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
The multi-agency federal sting involved 300 agents and was reported to be the largest immigration operation so far  under “Operation Midway Blitz.”

Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino was in Chicago to oversee the operation.

Critics like Illinois State Senator Robert Peters and the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights’ denounced what they say are the cruel and heartless immigration policies of the Trump Administration.

WGN’s Julian Crews has the story.
