On Monday, Sept. 29, Landry announced a significant move he believes is necessary to help combat crime across the state, asking the Secretary of War and President Donald Trump to send up to 1,000 troops to Louisiana.
The following day, AG Liz Murrill took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to fortify the statement from the Governor.
“While we have made tremendous progress in fighting crime throughout Louisiana since I took office – there is still more work to be done. That’s why I fully support @LAGovJeffLandry’s official request for federal assistance to @SecWar Pete Hegseth and President @realDonaldTrump to deploy national guard troops to Shreveport, Baton Rouge and New Orleans.”
