ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Our guest on this episode of Abilene People is a familiar face to many who’ve followed local news over the years—though she’s been away for a while. We’re excited to welcome back Brittany Pelletz, who recently returned to Abilene as the first-ever Digital Anchor and Content Creator for BigCountryHomepage.com plus KTAB and KRBC.

Brittany’s journey to Abilene has been anything but ordinary. Born in Massachusetts and raised in Florida, she earned her journalism degree from Barry University in Miami. Her very first job in television brought her to KRBC, thanks to then news director Austin Kellerman. In the podcast, Brittany shares how she once thought she was headed for North Dakota. Thankfully, she turned her car west instead of north and landed in West Texas.

As a side note, Kellerman is now Vice President of Local Digital Content Strategy for Nexstar Media Inc., parent company of KTAB, KRBC, and BigCountryHomepage.com. So, while Brittany’s new role may be breaking new ground, she is very much at home within the Nexstar family.

Her decision to come to Abilene years ago shaped both her career and her personal life. Brittany not only launched her early reporting and anchoring career here but also met her husband and started her family in the Key City. She went on to become KRBC’s first midday anchor before moving to KTAB, where for many years she anchored the 5 PM newscast and co-anchored the 6 PM and 10 PM news alongside the legendary Bob Bartlett.

After a few years in Florida, her husband’s job has brought Brittany and her family back. General Manager Albert Gutierrez jumped at the chance to bring Brittany back to the station—this time in a pioneering role. As Digital Anchor, she’ll lead the way in digital and streaming news, developing innovative content for Big Country Homepage and a forthcoming smart TV app that will bring local news into even more homes.

With more than 17 years of experience in journalism, content development, and community connection, Brittany Pelletz is once again making her mark on Abilene—and we’re thrilled to share her story.
