Utah-based snack company Tru Fru recalls some freeze-dried strawberry products

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Utah-based company Tru Fru, LLC announced a voluntary recall of some of their freeze-dried strawberry products due to a potential presence of metal in the snacks.

The products were manufactured by Georgia Nut Company, working as a third-party manufacturer for Tru Fru. They made the voluntary decision to issue a recall after a member of the public reported the issue to the company. At this time, no injuries have been reported.

The affected products include certain manufacturing lots of Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark and White Chocolate and Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries and Creme. You can find out whether products you’ve purchased are affected by the recall on the FDA’s website here.

Recalled products were sold online and in retail stores across the United States, including Albertson’s, CVS, Food Lion, H-E-B, Hungryroot, Ingles Markets, Kroger, Stew Leonard’s, and Target.

Tru Fru is working with retailers to remove recalled products from stores, but if you believe you’ve purchased a recalled item, dispose of it. If you would like to be reimbursed for purchasing affected products, you can fill out this form to request reimbursement.

Each package has a 10-digit manufacturing code on the back, and the first four digits of the manufacturing code will let you know if your package has been recalled. The FDA has a list of each recalled manufacturing code on its website.
