The Amazing Spider-Man Newspaper Strip Returns to Print Courtesy of Clover Press

The Amazing Spider-Man may be one of the most important and influential comic books ever published, but for many years, its popularity was arguably dwarfed by The Amazing Spider-Man newspaper strip. There hasn’t been an easy way to read the classic comic strip in recent years, but that’s changing thanks to a new partnership between Marvel and Clover Press.

With the crowdfunding campaign for Clover Press’ new The Amazing Spider-Man Newspaper Strip collections now live, IGN can exclusively debut artwork of the slipcase covers for all four volumes. Check them out in the slideshow gallery below:

The Amazing Spider-Man strip originally debuted in 1977. The strip’s original creative team consisted of writer Stan Lee and artist John Romita, Sr. Romita left the strip in 1981, after which it was drawn by several other artists, most notably Lee’s brother, Larry Lieber. The newspaper strip ran consistently until 2019. The strip wasn’t set in the same continuity as the monthly ASM comic and was notable for first introducing the idea of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson getting married.

These new Clover Press editions will reprint the strip chronologically, with each volume covering one year from 1977 to 1980. Each volume is produced in a horizontal 11″ x 8.5″ format, though the slipcases will be arranged vertically for easier storage.

“The Library of American Comics remastered and collected the strip in a series of hardcover collections—but so many of them are out of print, making the collection highly sought after and almost impossible for your average comics lover to get their hands on,” said Clover Publisher Hank Kanalz in a statement. ”Now, Clover Press and The Library of American Comics are bringing the collections back to print in an affordable softcover format! We’re collecting the strip strictly by year, reprinting each installment from January 1 to December 31. We can’t wait to help get these iconic comic strips into the hands of Spidey lovers everywhere!”

The crowdfunding campaign for The Amazing Spider-Man Newspaper Strip is live now, and the books will also be released individuually in bookstores in 2026.

In other comic book news, we’ve got the full scoop on how Star Trek: The Last Starship resurrects Captain Kirk, and Crunchyroll Manga is debuting in October 2025.
