The airline will discontinue service from Hartford, beginning on October 31. It is also ending service out of Minneapolis on December 1.
“We apologize to our Guests for any inconvenience and will reach out to those with affected reservations to issue a refund. We thank our airport, business and community partners in Connecticut and Minnesota for their support over the years,” a spokesperson with the airline said.
Officials with the airline added that they don’t anticipate any additional airport exits in the near future.
Bradley International Airport confirmed that Spirit Airlines will be discontinuing service. Spokesperson Brian Spyros told 22News that despite Spirit leaving Bradley airport, flights to the same destinations such as Fort Lauderdale, Myrtle Beach, Detroit, Nashville and Orlando are still available through other airlines.
“The Connecticut Airport Authority has been notified by Spirit Airlines that they will be ceasing operations at Bradley International Airport on October 31 in light of their ongoing bankruptcy restructuring and operational changes. Spirit Airlines has been an integral part of Bradley International Airport’s airline network over the last eight years. We thank Spirit Airlines for their investment in the Hartford market and will be ready to welcome them back when their current circumstances change,” Statement from Bradley International Airport.
