PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — After he kidnapped and raped two women in 2023, a Gresham man will now spend more than 33 years in prison, a judge ruled Monday.

In August, a Clackamas County jury convicted 31-year-old Julio Cesar Escamilla-Ramos of two counts of first-degree kidnapping, two counts of first-degree rape, four counts of sexual abuse and sodomy.

Each of the crimes were separate incidents, according to a press release from the Clackamas County District Attorney.

The first occurred in August 2023 when a 38-year-old woman was walking home from an event in Molalla. Escamilla-Ramos stopped to offer her a ride, but when she got in, he began driving in the opposite direction of her destination and refused to let her out.

He drove her to a remote area, raped her, and left her there.

The other incident involved a 22-year-old woman he dated. Escamilla-Ramos had purchased $300 worth of clothing for her to wear to a party they attended together. On the drive home, he demanded she have sex with him in exchange for the clothing. When she said no, he raped and sexually abused her.

When she tried to get out of the car, he grabbed her arm and said, “You’re not going anywhere.”

Eventually, the woman was able to escape. When she ran home, he chased her. Her family called the police and detained Escamilla-Ramos until officers arrived.
