FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ind. — A 17-year-old Laurel resident was pronounced dead after a reported crash early Sunday morning near Blooming Grove.

According to officials with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, deputies and personnel from the Blooming Grove Fire Department were dispatched to the 14000 block of State Road 1 in Franklin County at around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday.

When officials arrived, the driver of the vehicle, identified as Ethan Heath, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The department stated that Heath’s vehicle was reportedly traveling northbound when it left the east side of the road. Officials said they do not know why the vehicle left the road. The vehicle then reportedly struck a culvert and driveway, went airborne and rolled multiple times.

Law enforcement entities, including the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, the Blooming Grove Fire Department, the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, the Brookville Police Department and the Indiana State Excise Police, are continuing to investigate the crash.
