Flames damage East Lloyd Street home; two displaced
SHENANDOAH – A firefighter suffered a minor injury as crews battled a house fire on the east end Sunday afternoon.
The fire broke out around 2pm near East Lloyd and North Grant Streets in town.
Crews arrived to find fire in the second floor of a home at 227 East Lloyd Street.
Firefighters from Shenandoah’s five fire companies, as well as Frackville, Englewood, and Mahanoy City, responded and made quick work of the fire.
At least one firefighter was treated for a minor injury.
No other injuries were reported.
Shenandoah Fire Chief Rick Examitas said the first started in the front second floor bedroom and was ruled accidental, electrical, caused by an overloaded circuit.
Two residents got out safely and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
