Bad Bunny announced as Super Bowl halftime show headliner
Bad Bunny marks the first time a Latin act has headlined the Super Bowl halftime show since Jennifer Lopez and Shakira co-headlined Super Bowl LIV in 2020.
The 31-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer posted a simple caption to his nearly 50 million Instagram followers.
“Super Bowl LX. Bay Area. February 2026. #AppleMusicHalftime.”
Bad Bunny said in a statement released by the NFL that the milestone performance will be for his people.
“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself. It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown,” the music superstar said in the statement. “This is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”
Bad Bunny released his sixth studio album “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” in January. He is a three-time Grammy-winning artist. “Benito” has a following of 35 million TikTok followers, 13 million on Facebook, 50 million YouTube subscribers and another 4.9 million on X.
Super Bowl LX will be the second time Levi’s Stadium has hosted the nation’s largest sporting event. The last time the game was held in the Bay Area was in 2016 for Super Bowl 50, also at Levi’s Stadium.
“Let’s gooooooo! We can’t wait to host Bad Bunny here in the South Bay for Superbowl 2026,” San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan wrote in an X post reacting to the news.
The involved parties posted on social media that the announcement would be made during halftime of Sunday Night Football between the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers.
