Sunday forecast: More sunny skies and warmth to wrap up the weekend
It may be almost October, but the first weekend of fall is serving up late-summer weather.
Sunday will bring clear, sunny skies across the area, making it a perfect day to get outside. Temperatures are expected to climb into the low 80s, with cooler readings along the lakefront holding in the mid-70s.
The extended outlook calls for continued warm and sunny conditions for Monday with highs in the mid to low 80s.
Tuesday sees temps dropping into the mid to upper 70s for the last day of September.
October starts out with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-70s on Wednesday.
Partly cloudy for Thursday with temps in the seasonal mid to low 70s.
We’re back to the upper 70s and low 80s for Friday and the weekend and no rain is currently in sight.
Well above normal temperatures will be present from the Northern Plains, Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and even portions of the Northeast.
This is a good proxy indicator of how temperatures will perform at the surface. The red and orange shading represents areas of above to much above normal while blue shading depicts areas of cooler than normal.
Above normal temperatures are in firm control for at least the next 7-8 days with some minor cooling possible later next weekend, the first full weekend of October.
Zero rainfall in sight across a large portion of the Midwest for at least the next week. This will only exacerbate the current drought conditions in place.
