ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The search continues for two suspects accused of kidnapping a woman and tossing her over a bridge into Curtis Creek in 2023. The woman survived after swimming to shore, but her car was stolen.

Investigators are searching for 35-year-old Crystal Humphries of Halethorpe, Maryland, and 39-year-old David Jiles of Baltimore, Maryland. Arrest warrants were issued charging Humphries with carjacking, kidnapping and related charges. Jiles was charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, carjacking, kidnapping and related charges.

On April 15, 2023, around 7 a.m., officers responded to Crewboats To Go at 6211 Old Pennington Avenue in Baltimore for a report of a carjacking that happened in Anne Arundel County.

The woman reported that around 2:30 a.m., she was dropping off a friend in the 300 block of Milton Avenue in Glen Burnie when she was approached by two suspects, a man and a woman.

The woman reportedly dragged the victim out of the car and threw her in the trunk of the victim’s 2012 Mercedes 550 sedan.

The vehicle was then driven away from Milton Avenue and came to a stop on Pennington Avenue above Curtis Creek. The woman was pulled from the trunk and thrown over the side of the bridge into Curtis Creek.

Both suspects fled in the victim’s vehicle. Luckily, she was able to swim to safety and was assisted by bystanders. She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Northern District Detectives began investigating the incident.
