
According to the Bloomington Police Department, around 9:40 p.m. officers were called to the intersection of West Howe Street and South Morton Street on reports of a possible shooting.
Upon arrival, police found a 29-year-old man lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound on the left side of his upper torso. Police attempted life-saving treatment until paramedics arrived. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation into the shooting revealed that a disturbance had occurred between the victim and the driver of a dark-colored sedan near the intersection Howe and Morton Streets.
According to the police, during the disturbance, the shooter got out of the car with a handgun, shot the victim once and got back into the vehicle and drove away at a high rate of speed, heading westbound on Howe Street, before turning northbound on Madison Street.
Witnesses told police they heard a female in the suspect’s vehicle screaming as it left the scene.
Police do not believe the victim and the suspect knew each other.
No additional information on the shooting is available at this time, and police’s investigation remains ongoing and active.
