A 64-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle in southern Minnesota Friday night.
At about 6:05 p.m., Fairmont police officers responded to the report of a pedestrian hit by a car in the 600 block of East Fourth Street.
Authorities say a 64-year-old woman was crossing East Fourth Street when she was hit by a car going west.
Life-saving efforts were attempted, but the woman died on scene, according to the police department.
The 56-year-old driver of the car was taken into custody.
The names of the woman and driver have not been released at this time as Fairmont police and the Minnesota State Patrol continue to investigate.
