PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — A 35-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with an attempted malicious wounding investigation, the Prince William County Police Department stated.

Matthew Jamaal Brown, of no fixed address, was charged with attempted malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, shooting into an occupied dwelling, communicating threats to kill in writing, and two counts of making threats over the airways.

According to police, on Saturday, Sept. 20, officers responded to shots fired at a home in the 10000 block of Brandon Way in Manassas. There, residents reported hearing several gunshots fired nearby, and multiple shell casings were found in the area.

No one was hurt during the shooting, and no other properties were damaged, police added.

An investigation found that Brown had allegedly been texting multiple “threats of harm” to a 32-year-old resident. Police noted that Brown was also known to the other occupants of the home.

Brown was identified as a suspect on Tuesday, Sept. 23, and several warrants were filed for his arrest.

Police said Brown turned himself in to Manassas City police without incident and remains in custody without bond.
