Drier feeling air sticking around
In the tropics, we are monitoring two disturbances. The first is Hurricane Humberto which underwent rapid intensification Friday and blew up into a major hurricane. As of Saturday morning, it is a high-end Category 4 hurricane and will likely continue strengthening through the day today. It is very likely it will reach Category 5 status before starting to weaken west of Bermuda and heads into the Atlantic.
We are also monitoring a disturbance near the Bahamas that will likely strengthen into Imelda by Sunday. From there, continued strengthening is expected and it will likely reach hurricane status as it approaches the Southeast coast. There are still many questions to figure out regarding whether it will actually make landfall or stalls off the East Coast. Either way, impacts are certain from Florida to North Carolina.
Locally, nice weather continues into the beginning of the week, but humidity begins to return by midweek. This will lead to more clouds and slightly hotter temperatures, but rain chances remain low. They pick up towards the end of the week and into next weekend. Otherwise, conditions remain quiet around Acadiana.
