Pastor William Holloway, executive director of the center, said the pantry shelves are nearly empty, and the center now serves nearly 800 meals a day.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, around 20 percent of Arkansas residents are considered food insecure, ranking the state last in the nation for food security.
Holloway said all donations of food, money, and clothing go directly to those in need, with breakfast provided to overnight guests and rehabilitation program participants, and lunch and dinner open to everyone seeking a meal.
He added that increased food costs and a rising number of residents needing meals make public support critical, noting that donations can help families avoid homelessness by allowing them to save for rent and utilities.
Financial contributions are tax-deductible, officials said.
Food donations can be dropped off at the center, located at 3618 W. Roosevelt Road.
