Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens said Jacquez Johnson pled guilty to armed carjacking.
The incident occurred on December 28, 2022. According to Owens, the victim was unloading trash from his gray 2022 Honda Ridgeline outside of his home on Gillespie Street when two suspects entered his driveway.
Police said one suspect pointed a firearm at the victim and demanded his keys. The victim complied, and the suspects took his vehicle before fleeing toward Jefferson Street.
Jackson police were able to locate the stolen vehicle, and the driver was arrested after a chase. Police said three passengers, including Johnson, ran away from the scene. Officers pursued and arrested Johnson, Antoine Gibbs and Ladarius Williams.
Johnson was sentenced to 15 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC).
