INDIANAPOLIS — Indulge in the spooky season this October by taking lantern-guided tours of historic Indianapolis locations.

Indiana Landmarks is offering two separate twilight tours this October. Each boasts spooky insights and haunting historic tales highlighting these places’ rich (and sometimes spooky) history.

Woodruff Place offers atmospheric tours exploring the historic district nearly every Friday evening in October. From 5:30 to 8 p.m., guides carrying lanterns will lead the curious and brave through the city’s first planned residential suburb.

“Hear the sad tale of the neighborhood’s namesake, why his house was demolished, and why its ruins stood for 15 years before finally being removed,” said Indiana Landmarks.

Woodruff Place Neighborhood Walking Tours cover roughly 1.5 miles in 90 minutes. Prices start at $20 for the general public with a discount for children and Indiana Landmark members.

But Woodruff isn’t the only historic and spooky tour this scary season.

The popular Old Northside Spooky Tour returns on Oct. 18. This tour explores another of the city’s oldest residential neighborhoods with trick-or-treat stops and tales of true crime and local lore sprinkled in along the way.

The Old Northside Spooky Tour welcomes costumed guests and departs from the Indiana Landmarks Center at 1201 Central Avenue. The departure times vary between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Oct. 18.

Tickets for this tour are $23 for the general public with discounts for children and Indiana Landmark members.
