Chicago police said the shooting happened just after 5 p.m. in the 0-100 block of East 89th Street in West Chesterfield.
The victim was inside a home when he was hit by gunfire multiple times. He was taken to University of Chicago Hospital initially in critical condition and later died from his injuries, according to investigators.
Police said a person was interest was taken in for questioning and two weapons were recovered from inside the home.
Area detectives are investigating and no other information was released.
