Lafayette distillery owner arrested, charged with rape

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) — The owner of a local rum distillery has been arrested and charged with rape, according to jail records.

Tait Martin, 51, is charged with third degree rape.

Jail records show he was arrested by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Thursday and released the same day on $15,000 bond.

Martin is the founder, president and Chief Brand Officer of Wildcat Brothers Distillery in Lafayette. According to the Wildcat Brothers website, Martin was one of two fraternity brothers who started the business in 2011.
