
According to a news release from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers arrested 19-year-old Harold Love Jr., a man they said is the “final suspect” connected to the Sept. 20 shooting in the 5600 block of Georgetown Road.
This comes after 21-year-old Carlos Contreras was arrested in relation to the shooting and subsequent chase.
According to previous reports, Contreras reportedly shot three people in the parking lot near a Jimmy John’s location in the 5600 block of Georgetown Road and fled from police in a Dodge Challenger. During the chase, the Challenger reportedly got stuck on a set of railroad tracks near the intersection of Industrial Boulevard and Guion Road.
In court documents surrounding Contreras’ charges, law enforcement officials said that Contreras and an “unknown male” allegedly used Glock handguns equipped with switches in the incident. The “unknown male” reportedly ran from the scene at the time.
On Thursday, Love, Jr. was taken into custody with the assistance of IMPD specialty units. Love Jr. was preliminarily charged with:
- Three counts of attempted murder
- One count of aggravated battery
- One count of battery with a deadly weapon
- One count of possession of a machine gun
IMPD officials said in a release that a search warrant was executed at Love, Jr.’s home. This caused the following preliminary charges to be added:
- One count of dealing methamphetamine
- One count of possession of a machine gun
- One count of dealing marijuana
IMPD officials said that the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will review the case and make a final charging decision.
