ABC4) — Analysis of Google search data for 2025 shows the most searched-for slang words in Utah this year.
The analysis, conducted by unscrambler.com, was done using Google Trends to discover the top trending slang terms and Ahrefs, an SEO software, to find the number of searches. The search looked at keywords like “meaning,” “slang,” or “trend,” reportedly using up to 150 search variations to find Utah’s top slang terms of the year.
Here are the 10 most-searched slang terms in Utah this year, according to the research:
- 6-7 — There is no literal meaning to six seven. Its absurdity is the point, making it a prime example of “brainrot” internet humor where the randomness itself becomes funny. It originates from the song “Doot Doot (6 7)” by Skrilla. LaMelo Ball, an NBA player on the Charlotte Hornets, created a trending video about being 6′ 7″ using the song. Teens scream and chant the term, often pairing it with exaggerated hand gestures.
- Chopped — This term has become a synonym for something that is ugly, undesirable, or unattractive.
- Sigma — This term refers to an independent, self-reliant person who operates outside traditional social hierarchies, often described as a “lone wolf.”
- Sybau — “Shut your b**** a** up.”
- Huzz — This term refers to an attractive girl or group of girls.
- Syfm — “So you f****** missed.” This term expresses disappointment when someone has failed to notice something important.
- Aura Farming — This term refers to a behavior, often referencing anime characters, where a person does something for the sake of looking cool.
- Unc — This term is short for “uncle.” It is used humorously to indicate old age.
- Ohio — This term refers to anything that is strange or absurd.
- 41 — This term refers to absurdity humor. It is very similar to “6-7” in that it has no real meaning. The term originates from rapper Blizzy Boy and became a viral meme.
