Flight from Washington Dulles International Airport skids off runway in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – A spokesperson with Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport (ROA) has confirmed that a commercial plane went off the runway.

Officials say the situation occurred around 9:18 p.m. on Sept. 24.

No injuries were reported, and passengers were taken off the plane. On Wednesday night, the airport reported that all runways were closed.

Officials confirmed that the flight that went off the runway was United Airlines flight #4339 inbound from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

According to reports, a resource center is available for passengers and their families on the second floor of the Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport terminal, staffed by representatives from both the airline and the airport.

The spokesperson said the plane was being held in the engineered arresting system.
