(KRON) — The driver of a Jeep was killed in a head-on crash with a big rig hauling two trailers on Highway 121 in Sonoma County near Schellville Thursday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Jeep was traveling south at about 7:30 a.m., when it crashed into a big rig traveling in the opposite direction. A DirectTV van also crashed into the big rig as a result of the initial crash.

“For reasons still under investigation, the Jeep crossed over the solid double-yellow lines and crashed into the big rig,” CHP said.

The driver of the Jeep was pronounced dead at the scene. No other people were injured in the crash. Officials have not determined if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash.

The highway was closed for approximately four-and-a-half hours. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact CHP.
