Broadview Fire Dept. asks ICE to remove new fence near facility
The fire department said ICE built a new fence without a permit on a public Broadview Street near their detention facility at 1930 Beach St.
It went up in the early morning hours of Tuesday, according to the fire department.
They claim the fence is currently blocking the department access to Beach Street.
“In case of fire or other emergencies at businesses located on the street, Broadview Fire apparatus would be unable to use the road to access these businesses,” part of a letter to U.S. Homeland Security reads from fire chief Matthew Martin.
They’re demanding that the fence be removed immediately.
WGN News reached out to ICE for a statement and has not heard back at this time.
