DALLAS (KDAF) — Criminal defense lawyer mcandrewslegal.com reveals criminal prosecution risk across the U.S., based on arrest rates, court filings, and incarcerations per 100,000 people. Each state was scored out of 100 and ranked to form the index.

Texas ranks 15th with a score of 60.06, recording 206.46 arrests, 55.11 criminal court filings, and 720.59 incarcerations per 100,000 residents. While its arrest rate is below the national average, the state’s high incarceration rate and court filings contribute to its position in the top 15.

Compared with neighbors, Texas’s risk is higher than New Mexico (14th place, score 61.34) by a narrow margin and above Louisiana (10th place, score 66.82), but lower than Arkansas (2nd place, score 77.62) and Oklahoma (3rd place, score 76.13). This positions Texas as a state with significant criminal justice pressures, though not as extreme as some of its Southern neighbors.
