Anson man accused threatening shooting at Abilene pride parade in response to Charlie Kirk death
Joshua Cole, of Anson, was taken into custody last week on a federal Interstate Threatening Communications charge after a FBI investigation into comments he made on Facebook September 18.
Court documents reveal Cole used the Facebook account “Jay Dubya” to make the following comments on another person’s post about the upcoming Abilene Pride Parade:
“fk their parade, I say we lock and load and pay them back for taking out Charlie Kirk.”
“theres only like 30 of em we can send a clear message to the rest of them.”
“come on bro let’s go hunting fairies.”
These comments, made two days before the parade took place, were reported to authorities as a threat.
Investigators initially attempted to contact Cole at his place of employment, but the documents state his co-workers said he had stormed out and quit that same day and also claimed he was known to be a “hot-head”.
Cole was successfully contacted during a traffic stop the day after he made the posts, and the documents state that although he admitted to making the posts and could see how people may think they are a threat, he “denied that he was going to take action or shoot parade participants.”
He was released from the Taylor County Jail Wednesday. No further information is available at this time.
